Kitchin Residence Hall, an original Reynolda Campus building dedicated in 1955 and refurbished most recently in 2015, is named for Thurman Delna Kitchin (1905), the president who guided Wake Forest College through its decision in 1946 to move to Winston-Salem. Kitchin served as president from 1930-50, earning acclaim for handling a difficult but ultimately beneficial period in Wake Forest’s history. In the early 1940s, he paved the way for women to attend the College. The knight in the crest is derived from the Kitchin family coat of arms.
